What is your greatest achievement? This question can also come in this form: What are you most proud of? Thinking about telling the interviewer that you just shaved off 30 seconds on your marathon time? Maybe you should think again…
It’s a good idea to talk about your individual, personal achievement if you’re 100% confident that the interviewer shares that passion and values the effort required to achieve such a thing. Otherwise, it’s best to use this opportunity to demonstrate skills such as influence, leadership, and teamwork by talking about a group achievement.
Demonstrating commonalities with the interviewer helps him/her to relate and identify with your story. It also subconsciously feeds in-group bias, which means his/her perception of you will go from being “one of them” to “one of us.”
